Eddy at Multnomah Falls, which is along the Columbia River Scenic Byway. We took the rental car out one morning and took this byway, where we saw about 10 waterfalls, dozens of scenic vistas, and trees for days.

John at Crown Point in the Columbia River Gorge. From what we recall, the gorge was created by the rush of meltwater from dwindling glaciers during the last ice age. It's a very wide river, being less than 100 miles from the ocean. This was one of the most beautiful scenes.

Eddy outside the lodge at Mt. Hood. Our first glimpse from the plane flying into Portland was the top of this mountain. Later during our stay, we got to take a trip up to the lodge close to the top. It's a big ski resort. This is looking up towards the peak

John on Mt. Hood. This is looking out from the lodge and the mountain towards the mountains to the south.

Eddy and John at the Rose Parade, downtown Portland. Portland is home of the International Rose Test Garden, where hundreds of varieties of roses are created, bred and grown. The parade is an annual event and winds through the downtown area. It just happened to go through the gay district. The parade has announcers along the way to tell what the different floats are. The announcer at the corner of the gay district was a drag queen! She was a hoot!

Eddy looking south on the Willamette River from Steel Bridge, one of the 8 bridges crossing the river in the middle of Portland. Every bridge is different. Can't see much river, though. Sorry.
