Are you a PV friend?
Pink Village has now been on the map for 2 months and our community is counting 7 pink citizens. Besides the citizens quite a few people have been visiting our town more than once - but without applying for a citizenship. Some of you have already started to build elsewhere, or you just want to visit PV occationally without any obligation. Or - perhaps you are not gay at all...
You don't need to be gay or to build a house in PV to be registered as a PV friend! If you don't want to apply for a citizenship, you can now register for a friendship instead. PV friends get invited to any events, and may also use the local advertising boards.
Use this form to register both for PV citizen or PV friend!

What's New?

Interactive PV map
PV citizen Eljay has developed an interactive PV map to download from the Web. By clicking on most any square or occupied lot you will be teleported directly to the place.
The map is linked from the 'PV Info', and you also find it in Eljay's garden. By time the map might be found at the squares as well, but if you plan to use this great service regularly you should always
open the file before you enter AlphaWorld.

Maze winner
The Amazing Maze was opened the 5th of March and due to announcements made outside PV it attracted quite a few people. The maze includes three hidden objects to find, and according to the sign by the entrance the case has been solved by 5 people.

Punchie in front of the Maze

The first person to mail the answer was Punchie who is a PV citizen. He used about 10 minutes to solve it on the opening day.

The Parade Party
March 15th the Pink Parade Night-club opened for it's first party. Probably most guests were gathered in the club during the first 2 hours - there were lot of dancing and several guests tried to find the hidden object to reveal the male pictures. Eljay was the first to find the object which was a pint of beer placed at the left of the stairs. There was a 'party page' with information on the party. The night-club is still featuring those original midi files composed by Punchie.

Dancing at Pink Parade

Parade will of course host more parties, but probably never again a party lasting for 24 hours like the opening party. It is more fun to be present at the same time.

PV Info stands
The
'Public Services', which contain information and maps on PV, has this far only been accessible from the computers at the Town Hall. These days the 'PV Info' has been moved outdoor as news stands in order to make an easier access. All signs on free lots will also be linked to the PV Info. Note that all PV information included the latest issue of Pink Point is linked from the PV Info pages!

New World Times
The only AlphaWorld newspaper, New World Times, has now been down for some weeks. PP has been told that this is because Dataman, who runs NWT, has been moving the stuff to another server. As 'Circle of Fire' bought Active Worlds several AW items has been moved.
It seems like NWT is up again by now.

The Info Squares

As the AW management has been cleaning up the area near GZ and at the same time pronounced war against vandalism, it seems obvious that people need some alternative way to advertise than putting up new signs in other AW citizen's gardens. It is still legal to create ordinary signs near GZ but why not keep this area clean and advertise in some organised way instead?

As a service to all AW citizens 'Press Ltd' has initiated an AlphaWorldwide chain of Info Squares, where people can get frames for free advertising in a descent way. New communities need to announce for new citizens. You might want to attract people to your house, gallery, party or whatever, or perhaps to expose a picture or a link to the Web.

Teleports like this one will bring you to the chain.

The 6 squares are chained in order to make it easy to watch all current announcements. As most of the squares are located within growing communities you might even find some great neighbourhoods on your way - and perhaps somewhere to build, too.

The square at James Lane.

The content of each Info Square will be updated quite often, which makes the chain worth the visit again and again. New advertisements will be added frequently, and as the ad's (JPG files) are hosted by the users the content of the announcements might change at any time.

If you are not used to make JPG's Press Ltd does offer some assistance.

The chain of Info Squares that opens April 1st, might make AlphaWorld an even more active world. [get more info]

Open letter to a vandal

A vandal has been visiting Pink Village - and why shouldn't he? It's his right to find a free spot of ground in the middle of someone's on going building project, and to plant approximately 300 signs there! It's a human right in AlphaWorld, isn't it? We who have seen this great piece of art got just a little bit crossed - then we felt sorry for this guy who has expressed his impression on gay people.

Dear Mr. Vandal! We are truly flattered by all that work you have done just in order to tell us to 'die and go to hell' because we are some 'fucking dumb cum suckers'. According to you we are some 'pieces of shit', so why do you write that you want to fuck us? I'm sorry that we can't obey your wish! It seems that some vandals are much more obsessed with sex than most gay people...

Mr Vandal, you made us all very proud today! Now we know for sure that there is at least one person out there who are way more 'fucking dumb' than us - you! Or perhaps it was all meant in a caring way? If you know nothing about life you might be excused, but please take a look around and get some experience. Gay people are not any more dumb than others. I guess we don't even fuck more than heterosexuals! We don't build any better houses in AlphaWorld, and we sure don't appreciate vandalism any more than straight people do! In fact - we are quite like you except for at least one thing - we do chat with people instead of communicating by creating bunches of signs on other people's properties.

Next time you are visiting Pink Village you are welcome to chat directly with us. It is so much easier, and we really don't have the time to answer you by creating another 300 signs.

Anyway - I doubt that you would care to read them all...

The Memorial Garden

Latest addition to the Pink Village gardens has got a rather serious aspect to it as it is dedicated to AIDS. The Memorial Garden contains an open area where you are invited to copy a flower in the memory of someone who died from this decease.

A garden for our dead friends...

Let's create a colourful garden together! Write the person's first name in the flowers description field, and avoid animations and speeches - that will only make the area full and ruin the whole project!

If you don't know of anyone to honour this way but still like to join this idea, you can copy a flower to 'X' which will mean everybody that has died from AIDS.

The garden is located at 2242s 2196e and will be ready 10th of April.

"PINK & PLAIN"
- not plain at all

The idea of inviting AW citizens to exhibit a self made JPG in Gallerie 2222 did not turn out to be the success that was expected. People seem less interested in events like this, besides the idea has probably not been well enough advertised. By the title "Pink & Plain" it was meant to indicate that the pictures did not have to be professional works - any legal picture would be accepted.

Well, after all there is a few works to watch, and as the exhibition will last for 7 weeks there might be even more contributions later. The pictures that are received are not plain works though - most of them are quite good and as far as we know they are all originals. Visit the exhibition at Galerie 2222 to watch them. If you point the cursor arrow at the pictures you'll find out who created them.

The exhibition opened April 1st at 23.00 GMT.
