Windows 3.x | Windows 95 | Download MSIE | Queer Street Home

Point One - CompuServe Mosaic (the first modern browser) is slow, unsophisticated and prone to crashing.
Point Two - Netscape Navigator is more sophisticated but is also slow. This will be the new CompuServe standard browser from Summer 1996.
Point Three - Microsoft Internet Explorer is as sophisticated as Netscape (more in some areas/less in others), faster, more reliable and FREE!
  Internet Explorer is available for Windows 3.x, 95, NT and Macintosh. Instructions follow for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.

Windows 3.1 Users

Once you have downloaded and installed Internet Explorer you can "piggy-back" it on the back of CompuServe’s Internet connection.
To use MSIE load CompuServe Internet Dialer, establish a connection to the Internet, once this is down load Internet Explorer and enter the URL of the site you want to view.
Once you’ve finished with the Internet exit MSIE and then click the "Hangup" button in the CompuServe Internet Dialer.
This may also work with the 16 bit version if run under Windows 95.


Windows 95 Users

Now this isn’t that easy but the end result is well worth it! I have this set-up and get access from a 28.8 modem close to the speed of a 68k fixed line!
