Jason
"Cool Runnings" Morris
Jason is an airline pilot with by profession. He has a history of singing at a young age and while he was a soldier in the Jamaica Defense Force. Jason is also a songwriter, having had the band perform one of his songs for the first time recently to much applause. Jason has contributed immensely to the effort, purchasing what he considered was needed equipment for the band, and there's more to come. He saw the "real guungoo" of a bass guitar in Miami recently. Some much for next month's paycheck. He gets his nickname of "Cool Runnings" because of his participation in Jamaica's infamous entry of a bobsled team at the winter Olympics. Jason started playing at age 8. He took piano lessons for about 3-4 years. During this time while at primary school he sang for the St. Richard's boys choir. He then attended boarding school and continued on and off playing the piano and singing for the high school choir there for about 2 years then gave it up. However Jason then got interested in the school band and played keyboards for a while. Then got interested in the bass guitar. Kept playing around with it for the rest of high school. During this time Jason hooked up with a friend named Weldon Maddan and formed a group in school named Tukandu and wrote quite a bit of music some of which was performed by the high school band at various concerts. Jason still has the song book from when he was 14 yrs old with all the songs that were written back then and hopes for Tantric to perform a few of them. After high school Jason joined the Army and played bass on a very small scale while doing his officer training with the Royal Marines in England. Then the following year while learning to fly with the Canadian Air Force Jason played with his first rock band which was the most fun he has had playing up to that point. The band comprised of a number of helicopter instructors and students and they played at various events and parties on the Air Force base. On returning to Jamaica after all his training Jason ran the Jamaica Defense Force Air Wing choir for the duration of his Army career. During this time the bass guitar sat for many years and collected lots of dust. However occasionally a new song would be written on the piano mostly after his heart was broken by his latest girlfriend. Then a few months ago Harry's bar opened and Jason realized just how many people liked hearing and playing rock and alternative music. So the dust was removed form the bass guitar and Jason started jamming at Harry's bar every Tuesday night. There he met Gibbo and all the other Tantric members except Lydia and Jillian who he knew for years and the band came together. The rest as they say is history.
