Johnny (Jimmy Smallhorne) lives in the Bronx and is the foreman at his Uncle Trump's (the late Chris O'Neill) construction company. He runs a wild and raucous bunch of Irish immigrants who lay sheetrock by day and spend their hard-earned money in the neighborhood pub at night. He has a girlfriend he loves, good mates, and the respect of the community, but demons plague him.

Haunted by half-remembered flashes of something terrible in his past, Johnny wanders the streets at night, drawn to a netherworld of sexual ambiguity, violence and substance abuse. It is only in his relationship with a fragile young hustler (Bradley Fitts) that he finds fleeting tenderness. With the discovery of his uncle's own dark secrets, Johnny finally begins to remember a long-buried past, challenged to confront a truth he doesn't want to admit.
