Having grown up with a Dad who raced sprint cars 2-3x per weekend around the Kansas City area, it's not really too hard to believe I'm a big race fan.  In retrospect, I must have been pretty lucky to have been part of a racing family seeing as it was far from the typical lives my classmates led.  It was just a hobby to Dad, but I suppose he was pretty successful, even racing at Knoxville a few times back in the early days of the Nationals.

I've never had any desire to race
, personally.  But being a spectator has its advantages.....  you save a LOT of money and have time to devote to other hobbies, such as cruising the MEN at the races (anyone who attends the races knows how much 'down-time' there is during yellow or red flags and such....). Lookin' back, I guess the first 2 men I ever had a crush on were both race car drivers, even tho' at that time, I had no idea I was gay or such.  I simply thought I was a big fan of those two guys!  In any case, I can think of few better places to meet masculine men, many who wear boots and smoke.  (...ok, so I have ulterior motives!)  So if you've not visited your local dirt track, do it this summer.  You'll have a great time!

You can usually catch me at Lakeside Speedway in KCK on Friday nights and at Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg on Sat. nights.  Even tho' neither of these tracks have sprint cars on a weekly basis, each track puts on a decent show with good car counts.  Once in a while I'll venture up to Osborn, just west of Cameron, for their Friday night show, LA Raceway in Lamonte or the fairgrounds in Sedalia.  And with the Knoxville Nationals fast approaching August 7-10, look for me on the backstretch in Section XX.  If you live up around Omaha or Lincoln, I highly recommend Eagle Speedway in Eagle, NE.  Several years ago I took in the action there for the first time and let me tell ya, the facilities there are awesome!   Had a great time up there, even if it was amidst all those Husker fans in a major thunderstorm....
