What's Safe?
Anal intercourse

We all know that fucking without a condom is the riskiest sex when it comes to HIV... But sometimes -- when we're feeling particularly butch -- some of us convince ourselves that its OK not to use a condom if we are doing the fucking... like we're not putting ourselves at risk.
Well it isn't true.

HIV can enter your bloodstream through the lining of your anus, through the hole in the end of your penis, or -- if you are not circumcised -- through the cells under the skin covering the head of the penis. Getting cum up your anus makes it easier to get infected than the other way round.

But look at it this way: if getting fucked without a condom is like jumping from the 30th floor, doing the fucking is like jumping from the 20th.
Blowjobs

The actual risk of HIV infection from oral sex is
very low. The lining of the mouth is quite tough and saliva is a very good barrier to HIV, however giving or receiving oral sex is not 100% safe. That's because there is evidence of a few cases where gay men do seem to have contracted HIV through oral sex.

We know that HIV can be transmitted in blood or semen and possibly in pre-cum, so it is theoretically possible that it could be passed on if you have cuts or sores in your mouth, or oral piercings which should be left to heal completely, which could take up to 12 months.

So, keep your mouth healthy but don't brush or floss right before oral sex as this can leave small cuts in your mouth. The best way of avoiding HIV is to not get semen into your mouth, if you do, it is probably slightly better to spit rather than swallow.

While oral sex is a low risk activity for HIV, bear in mind that other STDs can be transmitted such as Hepatitis B as well as Herpes and Gonorrhoea. If you are still worried the safest thing to do would be to use a condom.
Rimming

There is almost no chance of getting HIV from rimming though, as always, if there is bleeding the risk is higher. This may not always be obvious! Getting fucked and using dildoes can cause internal bleeding as can brushing or flossing your teeth.

There is however a risk of catching hepatitis B. To avoid this risk it is strongly recommended that you get a Hepatitis B vaccination.
