Watching ER

So I'm watching my tape of ER and it's making me anxious. In fact, at the end of my train of thought, I'm stuck with one thought...

Doesn't every character who's stubborn and ignores their health and their doctor's advice end up dying?

At this rate, I won't ever be able to watch ER again!!
