Song and Laughter
Friday, November 1, 2002 (2:02am)
At the end of ER tonight (well, last night technically, but I just watched it again with Rach), there was a Tracy Chapman song that was utterly beautiful...so I needed to share it with everyone... plus it was slightly ironic, I guess, to hear it when I did... considering the dream I had on Monday night, I believe it was... it was a nice dream and on a subject that I haven't dreamed about in quite awhile. I don't know what to say...there's a handful of people (well, less than that really) that understand the timing of everything and are probably all saying "Hmmmm..." right along with me.
THE PROMISE
If you wait for me
Then I'll come for you
Although I've traveled far
I always hold a place for you in my heart
If you think of me
If you miss me once in awhile
Then I'll return to you
I'll return and fill that space in your heart
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
If you dream of me
Like I dream of you
In a place that's warm and dark
In a place where I can feel the beating of your heart
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
If you'll be waiting
I've longed for you
And I have desired
To see your face your smile
To be with you wherever you are
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I'll find my way back to you
Please say you'll be waiting
Together again
It would feel so good to be
In your arms
Where all my journeys end
If you can make a promise
If it's one that you can keep
I vow to come for you
If you wait for me
And say you'll hold
A place for me
In your heart.
The other good part of the NBC Must See TV Thursday lineup was "Good Morning Miami"...normally, it's torturous to watch, what with the constant unrequited love issues. But tonight's episode involved going to a gay bar on Halloween to film their show and oh the jokes!
Gavin: Listen, Sister, I'm sorry if my language to a little rough there.
Sister Brenda: Ah please you should be at the convent on poker night. Let's just say that "Superior" usually isn't the word following "Mother".
Frank: I don't think I've ever met a gay.
Lucia: What do you mean you've never met a gay? We live in Miami. We got gay like we got flamingos!
Lucia: I don't understand this. You're over 40 years old. How is it that you know so little of the homosexuals?
Frank: Well let's see. I grew up in Ohio. I married my 4th grade sweetheart. High school was all about wrestling and gymnastics. In college, every spare minute went to cheerleading. Ever since the divorce, I've worked in show business. So you tell me how I was supposed to meet a homosexual!
There were some other good lines but they don't translate well, so I'll leave it with these.
Lyrics are from Tracy Chapman's "The Promise" and are copyrighted to her.
