Retraction

A retraction is forthcoming...it's complicated when I try to explain it. For now, let me give you a short version...I looked in her eyes when she explained her reasoning and I saw how sincere the gesture had been. It was then that I realized this wasn't just her being stubborn and taking almost a delight in paying for something before I got the chance. (Many of you know what I'm talking about...that way she gets when trying to grab the restaurant check first for example.) Instead, it truly was a desire to do something nice for me, to buy something for me that I really wanted and that she could afford. Hey, some girls get jewelry and chocolates...I get flowers and electronics. It works for me. In any case, I saw the look in her eyes as she explained and I just about melted right there. We discussed it for a little longer while the last bit of my stubborn resistance faded away. And then we set up my brand new DVD player.

Actually, that sums it up all nicely. It's better than what I was working on all evening. So there you go, that was my retraction. All is good now. I'm watching season 1 of "24" on my new DVD player right now in fact. :-)
