my

Bluehooks Diary

I started doing this diary in June, it's quite new. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

Friday 10th July

Slept in really badly, I'm not even going to admit when I got up. Went off into town, mainly to visit the bookshop because I'd had a phone message to say that the book on JavaScript that I had ordered didn't exist. The alternative I had chosen had gone out of print so I ended up ordering my third choice. The question 'Will I ever get the hang of JavaScript' might end up as 'Will I ever get a decent book on JavaScript?'. Hopefully I should have this one in about a week. Also replenished my stock of chocolate soya milkshakes, to which I am addicted and some food to make tomorrow night's dinner with so that hopefully I can avoid going into town again tommorow, I do seem to end up going to town several times a week and I'm sure if I was more organised this wouldn't have to be the case.

Back home was very quiet, had a cup of tea with Looey who was about to depart for a cave at the Gower. Lauren had come home from School and gone straight into her room to watch tv. Spent a bit of time tinkering with my background again, I wasn't happy with the way it was tiling and thought the blue could be a little lighten again. Its all on rather a subtle level so if you can't see the difference I don't blame you. After a while Lorna and Irene had arrived back and I went off with Lorna and followed her in my car over to a friends place where she is having the welding done on the trailer and some other stuff on her car. We drove back together in a haze of thick drizzle. If I hadn't known better I could have looked out and thought it was February out there, not July. I had thought the weather was getting better, but....well, I should know better.

There was a local charity event on tonight which had been advertised as 'A Night at the Races' and all the local kids were going and Lauren really wanted to go. Lorna had heard rumours that it wasn't real horses, just a widecreen video, but Lauren was sure that it was real horses. Given the lousy weather and the unknown state of equine reality I decided not to bother with this and lent them the car to get there. I've spent most of the evening working on my site, updating things here and there and also getting my head around Strata VideoShop. I got this software when I bought the computer but other than messing around with the tutorial clips I haven't had much call to use it. Sometime over the weekend Clare is coming to see if we can actually do something with the film she has been making. At the moment its just adding titles, but it will be interesting to have some real footage to play with. That is if I can make it all do what we want it to do....which is another matter. No communal dinner tonight as it was Lorna's turn and she was out at the races (which turned out to be NOT real horses) but it was quite nice to have a quiet little dinner of spaggetti hoops and something out of the freezer and sit in my nook under the stairs and eat alone.

And in case you're wondering, the horses are still in the field.
