I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
We had our first big frost of the season this morning, even at 11.00am there was still a crispy white covering everywhere and the ice that had formed on troughs, in the wheelbarrow, anywhere that there was water didn't melt all day and the frost thawed at the back of the house but not at the front. To accompany this was a soft blue sky full of wispy streaky pure white clouds. I drove into town about lunchtime and it seemed that there was a different cloud formation round every bend. Most of the trees are bare now and the shadows, even at that time of day looked like the long shadows of a summer evening but they were leafless shadows, hard edged shadows.
I had lunch in town to save myself the bother of making a sandwich when I got home and continued the day in that rather indolent fashion. Having started bleeding the previous evening I figured I had a perfectly good excuse to be indolent and so apart from a very mild spot of tidying in the kitchen and office (only what couldn't be put off any longer) I haven't done a lot else today, except sit by the fire and read. One good thing I did get from a magazine freebie cd was a way of spell checking these pages, so from now on my diary should be spelled correctly.... and my E-mail. Now that's a bonus.
Continuing in the indolent tone I am now going to stop writing and go to bed.
