Bluehook's Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

I'm getting bored of going to Swansea. I had to go to the Artificial Limb Centre again today to get another cast made for a new socket. It's not that I don't want a new socket, I do, this one is a nightmare, but I'm just getting bored of that drive, especially the motorway parts. I go down there one route and come back a different one but even so, it's just long enough that by the time I've driven there, spent an hour or two there and driven back most of the day is gone. However, I do want a new socket so I went. Coming home the back way I met David, turning off to his own farm in his red Sierra (how many farmers do you know that drive red Sierras? I don't know why he can't just have a Landrover or a Dihatsu like all the other farmers) and he said he would come round in the morning to do the posts. It's a strange thing but whenever I need to speak to him all I have to do is go driving around the back lanes and there he is, in his red sierra, or in his red tractor or in his JCB or in his white tractor pulling a trailer load of shit.

Clare arrived not long after I got back, having said she wanted to do some film titles in a hurry but was then wanting to take Nelly out for a walk despite the fact that she had limited time. She just couldn't resist the temptation of a dry day. I started out on Nelly with Clare following on foot and we got so far in one direction then the school minibus came and she got marginally freaked and when a tanker appeared she headed home at a fast trot, which was slightly better than being rooted to the spot for hours. Clare then set off in the other direction and managed to get her around several bends and then our time limit was up and we had to come back in and do the titles. By the time Clare had to leave they were finished but not printed so I spent the next hour doing that before moving on to the poster for the December WIT event. That went fine until I tried to print it. I love the new lens fills in Freehand but could I get them to print? No I could not. I tried everything I could think of and finally, after crashing the computer I resorted to the desperate measure of looking in the help file. I often don't bother doing this because the answer I want is seldom there but today it was and it just popped out of the printer about two scentences ago which made me very happy and I can now go to bed and not have to fret about the fact the Petra is coming round tomorrow morning and I don't want to spend ages working on this with her because David is also coming round to bang in the posts on the horse ring at which point we have to start nailing the rails up so that the horses can't knock them off again.
