Bluehook's Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

The grass must have been growing a lot last night because the horses barely ambled over to me when I brought the hay out this morning. It's staying amazingly mild, I can't quite believe December is here already, with all it's attendant horrors. Tuesday being a cook night meant it is nearly always a shopping day as well and I had to get stuff done in the bank as well so I went off there as soon as I had all the outdoor tasks done (Tuesday is rubbish day as well).
Hanna had been on the phone while I was out asking if she could come round later and pick up the proofs I had been printing out for her so I then had to get on the computer and quickly print out the remaining one. Since I was on the computer I got on with several other jobs while I was waiting for Hanna to phone back and got quite a lot done by the time she arrived.
We had a very early dinner because Lorna was going out and Loey came over to 'babysit' Lauren. I got sucked into one of her games after dinner, it's called Guess Who and has flip up faces which you flip down as you eliminate them by asking questions until you can guess who the other player has picked. It's a very silly game, but I was determined not to be beaten by a nine year old and played right up to the five games required to win. She was a surprisingly gracious loser, I was worried that she would throw a strop, but she didn't. When I finally tore myself away from there I started stuffing things from the garden in the scanner again. I've had this beautiful piece of bark sitting under the log box to flatten for several days, the actual scan is much more impressive than these strips, especially when you zoom right in on it. The holly berries were very difficult. They are highly three dimensional so therefore impossible to scan without getting lots of scattered light in which has then got to be eliminated from the file. Still, it keeps me busy.
