Bluehook's Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

I woke up vaguely at 6.30 am when Lorna started up my car to take Irene to catch an early train in Carmarthen. I wondered vaguely whether she would remember to wake me up before 9.30 am and promptly went back to sleep. I did wake up at 9.30 am but only because Lorna was then starting up Irenes car which apparently has to be revved very noisily before it goes anywhere and got out of bed to phone Downhome Stoves to comer and fix my fire. I was only just started on my first coffee when I phone and he said he would be there in half an hour so instead of the usual leisurely coffee and fags for an hour in front of the fire (which was out anyway, obviously) I had to get dressed and start cleaning out the fire. He wasn't much more than half an hour and round here that counts as being early. He struggled with the grate just as I had (which was good for my ego) but eventually managed to get the bars out, all of a sudden the first one just dropped down like it said in the book that it should and when I asked "How did you do that?" he did have the honesty to say that he didn't actually know. After that it was easy and the riddling now works better than it ever did before. We got into talking about computers and missing body parts (my arm, his kidney) and he seemed quite sure that there is a left hand operated digital video camera on the market and went out to the car to get a magazine to show me. I'm not sure that it's true but if not there are certainly remote control cameras that might be the answer.

After he left I got the fire lit and took a few phone calls from Heather and then finished off the agendas for the next WIT meeting and got them ready to post or e-mail to the rest of the committee. I was still waiting for a couple of addresses to be phoned in so I took the dogs up to the field to see the horses then walked them down the road a while. After that I had all but one address and decided to just go and get the rest of them in the post and since I had stuff to do in the bank as well I went into town and posted oe of the letters by hand while I was there. Clare was here when I got back taking Nelly out for a ride, much to Princess's horror, she hates being left alone in the field. I don't know whether she just doesn't want to be separated from Nelly or whether she wants to be the one going out but she does charge around and whiney a lot. In the meantime I was trying to figure out Flash 3.0 (yes, still) and decided that I needed a book. I spent ages looking in all the various internet bookshops, starting with amazon.co.uk, which is much faster (presumably only if you are in the UK though) than amazon.com where I found only two books on the subject, one which didn't sound that great and one which wasn't being published until 1999. So I kept looking and found nothing else anywhere and had to draw the conclusion that that was all that was out there. After dinner I went back and pre-ordered it, I don't even know when in 1999 it will be published, I might have to wait a year for it, by which time Flash 4.0 will probably be out. While I was there I couldn't resist getting another couple of books by Alice Walker,I'm just so into the way she thinks at the moment. So now I'm going to finish Anything We Love Can be Saved.

BTW I'm having problems with ftp to Geocities at the moment, a picture I definitely uploaded yesterday didn't come through. Anyone else having problems?
