my

Bluehooks Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

I never really got myself orientated correctly today. After finally puting the light out at 5.30 am and getting a few hours sleep I woke up with Heather coming through the answering machine and telling me to wake up because it was time to send the faxes. I had told her that it was ok to do this but even as I did that I knew I was going to regret it. We tried to send these faxes in the middle of the night and one went through ok until about page 10 when it refused to send anymore and I had to assume the paper had run out at the other end and the other one seemed to not be connected to a fax machine at all. So I got the remainder of the first one through ok this morning and on the second one the other's end's paper ran out as well, it was a rather long document. Finally I got back to bed. Then the answering machine went off again. "I'm bringing the hay round this morning, I'm on my way now" and that only meant about ten minutes away. I really knew I ought to have got out of bed but somehow between that call and the time she arrived I was incredibly sound asleep.

When I eventually did wake up and stagger outside there was a huge mound of hay in the barn, in the wrong place of course, but at least it's there. Heather had rung again in the meantime and left a series of messages about the application numbers being muddled - we were both extremely muddled by the end of last night. I was trying to get into town in time to return and meet Petra at 4.00pm to hand over the posters for the Cellar Bar and give her several ammended papers with the correct application numbers on them, but somehow I was getting more and more distracted and Petra actually arrived much earlier than I had expected. Then I remembered some phone calls that couldn't wait and only just managed to get into town in time to get everything done before closing time.

Now it seems to be bedtime already and I'm not sure what I've been doing all evening. I know I fell asleep listening to Beethoven in front of the fire but I'm not sure exactly how long for (it could easily have been several hours actually). I'm trying to eat a lot now so that I can put some weight on quick and then my socket will fit me again. Shouldn't be hard. I've had chocolate ice cream and chocolate fudge brownie tonight. I haven't been able to wear the new arm that much today. Both the relevant muscle groups were very sore this morning but I did have a good hour or so of practice tonight when it was a bit rested and I think once the socket is fitting better I will be able to switch the modes quite easily, I just need time to practice with it.
