my

Bluehooks Diary

I started doing this diary in June, it's quite new. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

Sunday 2nd August

Got home from Ireland last night. I could have made an entry really, but I was too exhausted. Had a really long, complicated and frustrating journey home which began with my Mother giving me a lift to Athlone railway station where I caught a train to Dublin. The train was late so I missed the connecting bus and had to take a later one so that by the time I reached Dublin airport I was late for check-in. Obviously I had forgotten that I was in Eire as no-one batted an eyelid. The plane was a bit late as well so by the time I had caught a bus to the train station I had to run to catch the first train. I nearly made a very bad mistake with the trains but managed to catch the connection at Wolverhampton with about 10 seconds to spare. The train to Aberystwyth was two carriages long and hopelessly overcrowded. I didn't get a seat until some way down the line and there were several delays and lots of people were getting very cross and annoyed indeed. At some point I fell asleep and was shaken awake at Aberystwyth, everyone had got off and people were getting on again, I was lucky I didn't end up on my way back to Birmingham. I was very pleased to find my car where I had left it and quite enjoyed the rest of the way home, I didn't mind in the slightest having to wait for a herd of cattle to cross the road for milking time.

The sun came out today which was very welcome. After I had been into town and bought a bit of food at the supermarket I took the dogs up to the lake. We had a good walk and they both swam although I didn't really feel like it myself, it takes a good few weeks of sunshine to make that lake pleasant to swim in. I would have stayed up there longer but I had amassed a cloud of very annoying flies around my head and they wouldn't leave me alone so I came home. The dogs were stuck to me like glue by this stage and took to following me everywhere I went. I spent a good while outside, making the most of the good weather to put away the big tarps which had been left to dry after the last sweat and had been waterlogged for weeks, testing out my tent to make sure it hadn't mysteriously lost something essential since I last used it, and to make sure I remembered how it worked, and giving Princess a good brush down since she has started to moult like crazy. I also managed to speak to the farrier who had been scheduled to appear on Tuesday but hadn't. Apparently lots of people had sprung extra horses on him, and I can't really complain as I was going to do the same thing and ask him to take Nelly's shoes off so that I don't have to be worrying about her getting stuck on the fence while I'm away. He said he will come on Thursday, and I really hope he does because I'm off on Friday.

Later on I spent some time constructing diary pages for when I'm gone so that it doesn't look like I've just lunched out on the whole thing. The Loey appeared and offered me a Reiki treatment which I was glad to accept, after a bath of course. I was intending to join a certain chat after that but I can't seem to make an internet connection so I'm writing this a bit early and hoping it will sort itself out soon.
