I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
My intention was to write this and then just go straight to bed so I took a sleeping pill before I started but then I got all distracted by other things and let the time run away so now I'm dropping off badly. I'm forgetting what I actually did today. I know I went out of the house and into town although I don't remember much apart from going to the shop where they are supposed to fix raeburns to ask why they still hadn't come and fixed the raeburn. But that's another whole story. I also went to the farmers co-operative in Tregaron and bought some supplies and then on to Cambrian Power Tools for a pair of chainsaw trousers. The extra DIMMS haven't arrived today as they should have done and phoning the company did no good. Hopefully they will get here tomorrow, I did think it was a bit optimistic, maybe to a city address by today but these sales people on the end of a phone don't understand the rural roads thing.
It's getting so dark and so cold, I'm a bit horrified really. The rain just keeps lashing away at the windows, ouside my door is just a great muddy puddle as far as the barn and still it keeps coming down. So many rivers are right up to the top of their banks, you can never be sure that where you want to go will still be passable on a daily basis, even on the main roads you can come round a corner and hit a vast puddle at main road speeds and that can be dodgy enough in a 4 wheel drive. One good thing though, I did manage to activate my central heating pump, I think the motor had just seized because I gave it a thump and it seemed to respond so I have heat in my office area now. I was starting to be cold sitting in here and that was causing me to spend much more time sitting in front of the fire and less time actually doing anything. This is the first house I've lived in for years which has central heating and so that's going to be a real luxury this winter. I still have to shovel coal and deal with wood but at least the whole house gets warm rather than just the room the fire is in.
Oh bla bla bla. Think I'm getting tired and starting to rant. Goodnight.
