I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

     

I spent the morning up in the field sawing up the rails for the horse ring and laying them in place so that once the posts have been knocked back in straight (the horses have used them for scratching posts) the rails can just be put up straight away. I was wondering why Nelly was around and watching me but there was no sign of Princess as they are not usually far apart and went to investigate. Once again she had foiled the fence and was standing in a ditch at the top of the field eating bramble leaves. She actually seemed quite content and didn't really want to come out of there. There is another two rows of fencing between the ditch and the next field so I knew she wasn't going any further. After a while she started to whiney and I had to put a headcollar on her and lead her out which involved walking along the ditch to where she had got to and leading her back with her walking in the ditch and me precariously edging along the bank leaning on her back to stay upright. Then I had to stand on the fence and pick her feet up and over the wires one at a time. Soon as I can get someone to help me that fence will get seen to, it's kind of upright again but it won't stay like that for long, especially not with all the big storms going on.

By the time I'd done that and put up a temporary 'gate' to the orchard there wasn't much daylight left and I felt strangely tired and fell asleep for a while with the little kitten who had been alone all day and and spent the first ten minutes in a manic little ecstasy of rubbing and purring and falling over on my face and licking raw patches on my neck and face but then curled up and fell asleep like a minaturised Bagpuss.

I'm still having fun with pictures, sometimes I don't even quite know why I'm doing what I'm doing................

......what for instance is a triple heater, I never did understand that.
