JUSTIFY
The present work chose the female population as research target because:
- The data of the previous work shows that the second biggest rate of women death in Garaqueçaba City is related to per natal time (Table 2), and that the great part of the people the look for the mini-posts are female. (75% female and 25% male);
- The women are responsible and participative concerning their families' health, once they are who bring their children to the doctor;
- Social and economically they're more available, because they work at their homes, when their husbands are fishing;
- The great part of the pregnant women are integrated to prenatal program.
We chose Ilha Rasa because:
- Regular transport available;
- Utilization of preexisting structure of SPVS that makes a social work in this island;
- Lacking of a gynecologic and prenatal health programs in this island;
- The women don't look for local health services because the doctor are male.
The important, systematic and significant work orientation of Marta Peña (SPVS), a social assistant internationally experienced in communitarian health.
