March 2000

Fri, 24th March
Well, where did that month go!!! After thinking that I had allowed plenty of time to do everything I got lulled into a false sense of security :-)

The past weeks have been a continuing routine of laser/electrolysis, informing people at work and distant friends/relatives - the news continues to be received with sympathy and understanding.

Dr Reid has provided me with letters for the passport office, driving licence authority and banks/building society. I realise I have dozens of companies, associations, etc to write to about my name change :-)

Only 4 more days at work in 'male mode', then off for two weeks - taking in a weekend in New York (shopping) and a few days in Rome (sight-seeing). Well I DO work for an airline :-)

Thu, 30th March
Last day at work in 'male mode'. Invited colleagues to a nearby pub to celebrate. Was presented with a lovely bouquet of yellow and white roses, received several 'good luck' cards, and a small cake :-)

Fri, 31st March
Flew to New York, met up with friends and went for a meal at the Carnegie Deli. Staying in a hotel close to some of the big stores, and just around the corner from the Empire State building.
