Sole To Soul

We two for so long have shared the same soul
That’s now driven apart by my singular goal.
Ironic, it stems from the strengths within you
Summed up by the words ‘to thine own self be true’.

My own twisted strands of DNA
Are where Mother Nature came to play -
Perverse, but with no malicious intent.
This boy/girl child to the world was sent
Where social order is the driving force
Where I don’t fit, and seek divorce.

But I found you, my twin in fate
I’m sorry I found my self-truth too late.
If you decide to take a road
Away from me and my tear-some load
I’ll not block or bar your way,
Though I shall ever rue that day.

You had a future, so clear in view
Now obscured and taken from you
By my desire to solve this case,
With all the pieces, neat, in place.
But with this it needn’t end
If you would be my life-long friend…
