Let's say you want a color pic. Ok, we are ready for that too. Go back to the original and COLOR FILL and COLOR REPLACE until you have the colors you want - do this in 16million color mode.

Better? Now use COLOR REPLACE to add shading. One shade darker and one shade lighter for EACH color.

How's this?

Try to eliminate all your white. This enhances the power of the COLOR REPLACER tool.

Now it's decision time! One color can be transparent - any color you choose. Just use a color not used anywhere else in your pic. Here's an easy way for the inexperienced to do this:

• you are in 16million color mode
• COLORS/LOAD PALLET/-net256.pal
• now you are in 256 color mode (with the colors you want locked in)
• FILL in your background color (it should match the color you want your pic to lie on)
• COLORS/INCREASE COLORS/16MILLION
• SOFTEN
• RESAMPLE to half size
• COLORS/LOAD PALLET/-net256.pal
• SAVE

i know, it's seems kinda convoluted and i know some drawing programs make some of these steps automatically. This is the basic process. Once you learn it and understand it i think you will be able to find shortcuts and some twists and turns of your own. This isn't exactly how i do it, but this is the concept....
