It is always a difficult question for people to ask themselves. Will
I come out of the closet, or not? It is a very personal decision. Once
you "out" yourself, the door is pretty well locked behind you, you can
not go back in. You are exposing a very intimate and private portion of
yourself to someone who may not understand or may even hate you for what
they deem "your perversion".
I am still in the closet and do not think I will ever come out. I do
not mean that no one knows that I am bi-sexual. Quite a few people know,
but they are individuals, and I pretty much knew their reaction would be
positive before I told them. I guess you could say I am standing at the
closet door, peeking out. Every so often, I feel safe enough to pop my
head out and say hello.
I guess the biggest downside of nor having the temerity to step out
of the closet, for whatever reasons, is that it is really hard to meet
like-minded people if you are all sitting pretty in your own closets.
Finding a same-sex partner can be hard enough in this heterosexual world.
Unfortuanately, it is even harder if you can not stand up like some others
and say, "I'm gay and I'm proud".
Are you still in the closet too? Maybe we can come out for a few minutes
to say hello. I'm Angel, it's nice to meet you. What do you say? your closet
or mine?
