Penedo
Penedo is a beautiful little town located on the foot of the Mantiqueira Mountains, in Rio de Janeiro State, near the border with Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo. The town is near the higher town of Visconde de Maua, and also near the town of Itatiaia, and the Agulhas Negras montain.
The town of Penedo is very pleasant during the winter. The cold weather makes fireplaces an obligatory presence in all houses. Penedo is also wonderful during the summer because of its wonderful, fresh waterfalls and beautiful natural scenary.
Renata e Valeria were in Penedo during the winter of 1996, the first trip they took together. They were back during the summer of 1998, the most recent of their fantastic expeditions. Nature was very generous towards Penedo. Penedo was very generous towards Valeria and Renata.
Take a look at the pictures from last summer:
Renata plays at the "Tres Bacias" (Three Bowls) Waterfall. This is the highest of the three "bowls."
Behind Renata, one can spot the view from the top of the highest bowl, which is incredibly beautiful
Valeria enjoys " Poçao," the lowest and deepest one of the three bowls, from where one may dive from the top of its rocks.
A broader view of " Poçao " and of one of the rocks (top right) where one may dive.
