Amateur Radio Operators have devised ingenious links and repeater systems to capture and retransmit NASA Select TV audio and video broadcasts on the Amateur Radio bands. Most of these retransmissions will be found on VHF and UHF repeater frequencies, but some listed here are in the High Frequency (HF) "shortwave" bands. HF retransmissions may be tuned in using a worldband receiver with a Beat Frequency Oscillator (BFO) control which allows the reception of upper and lower sideband signals.
VHF and UHF retransmissions may be tuned with a scanner, or of course, an amateur radio transceiver. Amateur TV retransmissions of NASA Select TV video can in some cases be done using a cable ready television, tuned to channel 57 or 58, connected to an outside TV antenna aimed at the transmit site.
