Photo Album: Fort Ticonderoga's Grand Encampment
Here are some photographs taken at Fort Ticonderoga's Grand Encampment of the French and Indian War, held June 26-28, 1998. It was a great time, with almost 1000 participants. To add authenticity, it rained heavily just before the event. Just like 1758. As a result of the rain, the ground was a muddy quagmire. Just like 1758. Here are a few pictures, more will follow:
Here are your muddy yet undaunted guides to the event, Pete and Al, note the ever present mud puddles in background.
The Crown Point Baking Company was in buisness! These guys spent a week building these three clay ovens so we could buy truly fresh bread.
Captain Roache was on hand with wenches for rent, it seems the quality of his merchandise has been slipping lately.....
If you could not afford to do business with the good Captain, all was not lost, it seems the 2nd Conn. brought their mascott with them! In this shot, Al is introducing himself.
