Well this section of my site is a autobiography of my life
Well I began my life on February 16th,
1976 in Alamosa Colorado. I was born to Michael and Lori Valdez.
Dr. Burt Erickson delivered me at 9:58am and I weighted 7 pounds and 1
ounce. I was a total 21 inches in length. My mom named me
Heather. Which is cute because since she was a little girl she had
always wanted a little girl and to name her Heather. My marvelous mom
was only 19 at the time. Since, the day I was born we have been best
buds. Out of all the pictures that my mom took of me I saw very few
that I wasn't happy in and they were usually because I was sick. Not
long after I was born my mom filed for a divorce and it was finalized on
June 29th, 1978. My mom was awarded a 1973 Monte Carlo and me.
My mom moved in with her parents.
She started dating a guy named Jim Compton. They saw each other for
almost a year and half. My mom followed my grandparents as they moved
around. Jim went too. He followed her to Eureka - California,
Las Vegas - Nevada, and Lake Havasu City - Arizona. She sang with my
Uncle Jim at a place called the Golden Horseshoe. I occasionally got
to get on stage and play the maracas. I loved it there because I had
made friends with the owner Travis. I always snuck the pats of butter
and ate them. I also learned how to make stars there. My mom broke up
with Jim shortly after, he stayed in Lake Havasu.
My mom then met a guy name Steve Reynolds
and we moved to Mineral Wells - Texas. Steve had his own two seated
plane and flew between AZ - TX - FL. At such a young age I wasn't much
for flying, because I always got plane sick. Good thing they had
already invented zip lock bags. On one of his trips to FL with my mom,
I got stay with my Aunt Vicki and Uncle Jim in Hartshorne Oklahoma. My
aunt and uncle had just moved to Oklahoma from Lake Havasu. This was
fun for because me because I had really missed them. My uncle to this
day still tells stories about how we had dart gun (the ones with the suction
cups) wars and he got me right between the eyes. Well about a year
went by and things didn't work out between my mom and Steve. I was
kind of glad because he wasn't that nice to me.
My mom moved back to Lake Havasu and we
moved in with my grandparents. She found out that Jim Compton was
still there and they got back together. Shortly after my fifth
birthday, they got married. They said "I do", on February 28th, 1981.
It was official I had a new dad. =) We lived in a trailer on Lake Drive in
Desert Hills, which is just outside of Havasu. I was in
Kindergarten at Havasupai Elementary. My mom was working at McDonalds
and my new dad was working a McCulloch a chain saw factory. We lived
in a trailer on Lake Drive in Desert Hills, which is just outside of Havasu.
I was in Kindergarten at Havasupai Elementary.
Not long after they were married we all
moved to Oklahoma. My aunt and uncle had convinced my parents to move
there. My dad got a job as an insurance salesman. We ended up in
a small town called Wewoka. We often visited my Aunt and Uncle and my
cousin James Junior, (J.J.). J. J. was born just before moved to
Oklahoma on July 18th, 1981 We stayed in Wewoka for almost five years.
While living in Wewoka my parents had my sister Kristen Dawn. She was
born on June 20th, 1982. I now was able to be the big sister. I
had just began my fifth grade year at Wewoka Elementary School.
Shortly, after my dad got a job offer to help his dad, who's name is also
Jim Compton, with a restaurant in South Fork, Colorado. We moved to
Colorado and I said good-bye to all my friends and my boyfriend Mike Kiker.
We only lived in South Fork for a month or
two. South Fork is a small town at the end of Wolf Creek pass.
We lived in a small trailer behind the restaurant. I had to take the
bus to school, which was in the next town about 18 miles away. I would
get up before the sun came up and when I would get home the sun would be
setting. We went to school 8 hours a day. Which seems long, but
we had no school on Fridays. I was super popular at school because I
was the new girl. I had like three guys wanting to be my boyfriend.
I narrowed it down to one, Darren. That didn't last long because the
restaurant had to close and we decided to move by my grandparents again.
We ended up in Rohnert Park, California
which is a suburb of Santa Rosa. My grandparents had moved from Lake
Havasu and where managing an apartment complex. My Aunt Vicki and
Uncle Jim had also moved there a few years earlier. My youngest cousin
Kolbi Jean was born in California to them on March 18th, 1986. I also
had was glad because I got to live around my moms other uncles and aunts.
Well we didn't stay in California long,
about a month. My grandparents wanted to move back to Lake Havasu and
we followed them. We arrived on New Year's Day 1987. That is
where my parents still live today. I finally finished fifth grade with
out changing schools again. During High School I became real involved with
my church youth group and met my first real boyfriend, Jayson Richardson.
In June of 1993, I got my first job at Bashas, which is a grocery
store that is Arizona based. I was a courtesy clerk and later transferred to the Deli.
I legally changed my last name to Compton on April 25th, 1994. I also
attended my first real dance, my Senior Prom. I went with my
X-boyfriend, who was still a friend of mine from church. I
graduated from Lake Havasu High School on June, 2nd 1994, with a 3.901 GPA.
I was in the top 10.5 percent of my class. I had almost signed
up to go in the Navy, but they wanted me to leave the day after I graduated
to head out for boot camp. I chickened out and I stayed in Havasu and
attended Mohave Community College in the Fall of 1994.
I worked full time and went to school.
I applied to Northern Arizona University and was accepted for the Fall
semester of 1995. I moved to Flagstaff and lived on campus with one of
my friends from High School. I transferred with Bashas and worked only
part-time while in school. I soon found out that NAU was much more
challenging than community college. I met a lot of great people and
have some really great memories from my days at NAU. I only attended NAU for one year.
I ran out of money, so I went back to MCC in Havasu. I transferred
back to Bashas in Havasu. I got a job at a local computer store named
The NET SuperStore. I worked there full time and Bashas part-time for
almost a year and a half until the computer store went belly up. So,
once again I was back full time with Bashas. I stopped taking college
classes at MCC in the Spring of 1997. I had planned to get out of debt
and go back to NAU in the Fall 1998.
I was already to go back to NAU, when I
was asked to moved out to California and be a housemate with one of my
friends. I was also invited to join a worship team at my friends
friends church. I had met them in Havasu when I was a Senior in
High School. They had moved back to California right before had went
away to NAU. I jumped on the opportunity and headed out to California.
I was stoked about being on a worship team because I had just learned to
play the guitar in January of 1998. I got a place in Mission Viejo,
with two of my friends, Summer and Jenny. I got a job a sporting goods
store called Sport Chalet. I moved up quickly there and was soon in
management. The church was small, but showed signs of growth over the
years. While in California I got news that my father who stilled lived
in Colorado, had passed away. He passed away on February 14th, 2000.
Just two days before my birthday. I had only seen him one time, since
my mom had got a divorce. I was the only child that he ever had and he
wasn't married when he passed away. By law I was entitled to his
belongings, since I was the only heir. He was not a wealthy man, so
his estate didn't sell for a lot. After, all the bills where paid I
got enough money to put a down payment on a new truck and paid off my student
loan. Also that same year 3 of my family members had strokes. My
Aunt Vicki, my grandma, and my grandpa. My grandpa's was the worst and
the doctors also found a cerebral hemorrhage. My grandpa went through
surgery and physical therapy. After a few months he was back to his
usual self a jokester. He never fully got back his whole memory, but
never the less my whole family was glad to just have him around.
The Year 2001 didn't start off to well
because just a few weeks into January one of my friends, that had worked
with at Sport Chalet passed away from Cancer. In February
I turned a quarter of a century and I celebrated like usual by going
snowboarding. Most because you can ride free on your birthday. I
also found out that day that the church that I was going to was going to
close its doors, due to lack of funds. On February 19th Mission
Springs Community Chapel closed its doors. I was very sad and I knew
that I would miss being on the worship team playing my guitar. In
March I bought my first Remote Control car. I thought that I would
just get one to drive once in awhile outside. Well it turned into an
addiction. I soon found out that there was an RC track in Huntington
Beach called SoCal RC Raceway. I was pretty horrible at first. My first race I was in
the C-Main. Which made me about 24th or so overall. I got beat
by a 9 year old. Well that did last long and I soon made my way
through the ranks. I found a whole new world of people and friends.
Being a girl in RC racing isn't so bad considering I am one of the few girls
surrounded by anywhere from 25 to 130 guys. In July I went to my first
out of town semi-big race. I placed in the A-main which wasn't half
bad for only racing for a few months. Between April and July I lost
two more friends, one to cancer and another from pneumonia. In
September I raced at my second semi-big race at the Pro-line track in
Beaumont, California. I got into the A-main there too, but didn't
finish to well because a turn marshall missed me for over 25 to 30 seconds in
the main. Oh well. In October I got to go to Hawaii for two
weeks to visit some missionary friends that live in Honolulu. This was
my second trip to Oahu and I had tons of fun. Hawaii is a beautiful
place to visit, but I am still not sure if I would ever want to live there.
November was another crazy month. I
moved back to Arizona for two reasons, one is a long hard to understand
story and the other was to be near my grandpa. He was diagnosed with
small cell cancer over the Summer, and I wanted to spend time with him.
Thanksgiving was the best I had, had in a long time. All my Uncle's
and Aunt's where there. In November I got my first tattoo. Well
sort of, I got permanent cosmetic eyeliner. I wake up everyday with it on and
it doesn't get in my contacts.
December was another sad month. My
grandpa's health declined and he passed away on December 15th. I miss
him terribly, but I know he is in a better place. Cancer is a horrible
disease. It claimed the lives of three people I loved in 2001.
Christmas was quiet and the New Year was here at last.
In the year 2002, I started my life again in Havasu. I
got a job working for Home Depot and
I found myself the assistant manager of Special Services.
I also started racing RC cars again and I became active part in the
local track and announced races for a few months. I became great friends
with Jeff Roe the owner of Pro-Match Racing, who runs the races at Havasu RC
Raceway. Will racing there I took First in Expert Stock Truck and
Third in Spec Mod (My car broke in the main but I still had enough points to
still place) in the Spring Points series. I also revamped this website during my time off.
Through the RC Racing portion of my site I have made new friends in the US
who share my interest in RC. In May 2002 I moved into a place of my
very own that I loved. I had some great neighbors none of which where
younger than 50. I loved having my own space but at the same time
would get lonely in such a big place by myself.
In November of 2002 I bought and 1992 KX125. This was the beginning of
my new obsession. Shortly after that my friend Summer bought one too.
Now we go riding just about every free weekend with a bunch of our friends.
Wanting to live in
California got the best of me and I moved back there again in March of 2003.
I moved back in with two of my former roommates and live in Rancho Santa
Margarita. It is great to be close to all my friends but I really miss all my family
back in Lake Havasu. I guess I can never have my cake and eat it too.
