UNLIMITED ARCHERY SEASONS

Only legal hand-held bows can be used to hunt elk during archery season.

August 29 - September 26

  1. Over the counter, either-sex archery elk licenses are valid in all units except 1, 2, 10, 20, 29, 39, 40, 46, 48, 49, 50, 51, 56, 57, 58, 61, 66, 67, 69, 76, 84, 104, 201, 391, 461, 481, 500, 501, 512, 561, 851 on Bosque del Oso State Wildlife Area and public lands in units 12, 23, 24, and 33.


LIMITED ARCHERY SEASONS

Only legal hand-held bows can be used to hunt elk during archery season. See unit tables in brochure for limited license archery units and dates.



LIMITED MUZZLELOADING SEASON

Only legal muzzleloading rifles and smoothbore muskets can be used to hunt elk during muzleloading seasons. These are limited licenses available only by drawing. See unit tables in brochure.There are no unlimited muzzleloading licenses available, all muzzleloading licenses are limited in number and available through the drawing only.


UNLIMITED RIFLE SEASONS

Open to all legal methods of take.

Combined Rifle Elk Seasons

   1st combined: October 9-13
   2nd combined: October 16-27
   3rd combined: October 30 - November 7


Unlimited Antlered
Available all three combined rifle seasons.
Over-the-counter bull licenses are unlimited in number. No application necessary. They are valid in all units except 1, 2, 10, 20, 29, 39, 40, 46, 48, 49, 50, 51, 56, 57, 58, 61, 66, 67, 69, 76, 84, 104, 128, 201, 391, 461, 481, 500, 501, 512, 561, 591 and 851 on Bosque del Oso SWA..

LIMITED RIFLE SEASONS

Open to all legal methods of take. See unit tables in brochure for limited license units and dates.


ANTLER POINT RESTRICTIONS


Bull elk taken must have four points or more on one antler or a brow tine at least 5 inches long in these unit and seasons.

FIRST & SECOND RIFLE ELK SEASONS:
Four-point restriction in units 6, 7, 8, 9, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 28, 30, 31, 32, 35, 36, 37, 38, 43, 44, 45, 47, 59, 60, 72, 73, 82, 83, 85, 86, 161, 171, 181, 191, 371, 444, 471, 511, 581, 691, 851, and 861.

UNITS WITHOUT ANTLER-POINT RESTRICTIONS
  1. There are NO elk antler-point restrictions for elk during any season in units 1, 2, 10, 20, 29, 39, 40, 46, 48, 49, 50, 51, 56, 57, 58, 61, 69, 76, 84, 201, 391, 461, 481, 500, 501, 561, 591 and all units east of I-25.
  2. NO antler-point restrictions on wildlife ranching properties.
