ot in touch with me in January about a possible hunt for he and his son Matt. He applied to our local DNR through the draw and they both got thier bear tags, the hunt was then put in motion, Monte a friend of mine was kind enough to loan us his log home on Washdemoak Lake in the Cambridge Narrows for a week, complete with satelite TV, running water and laundry facilities, a far cry of roughing it in the COOP.
Below are pics taken by myself and the Rev Buck, Matt was fortunate enough to grab a 2 year old sow weighing in at 160 lbs and a taxidermist in Fredericon is currently making a 4 1/2 foot rug for Matt,..this page will be updated so come by again..enjoy the pics,,
I provided the food and did the cooking and Bill aka Rev Buck gave me a gift that I will cherish for many years, a handmade graphite lll 9-1/2 foot fly fishing pole, signaturized, and also two razorback t-shirts,,
During thier stay we managed to get them to visit Bubba's Bar and Grill the local general store which isn;t really a bar or a grill,,we also went to Jen's takeout where they dined on battered fish and chips, after attending church service with the local Baptists, of which one elderly lady remarked it took a Methodist minister from Arkansas to get Bob through the doors, "L"
When Matt finally got a glimpse of the COOP with no running water or electricity, he thought it was roomy enough, so I asked if he would like to pack his gear and move over but hey no way, he loved that satelite TV and the shower eh Matt.
For meals we dined on homemade Lasagna by Bobo, and a different form of bacon and eggs complete with sausage were served each morning, omelets with fresh mushrooms and the infamous swedish breakfast with eggs cracked over homefries smothered in cheese,,then Hawkeyes wife Cindy had us over on Wednesday afternoon for a beautiful roast beef dinner with all the fixins..Monte's dad Herman dropped off a t-bone roast of venison of which I lightly seasoned with garlic and onions and cooked for 4 hours until it was succelent, deboned and sliced into medallions it was tasty...
I told Bill that even if he didn;t get a bear, he was going to meet the friendliest people in Canada and he and his son Matt made friends quick, first being Emery aka WOODSMASTER then Mark the guide. I also reiterated that the food would be second to none. Mark is very knowledgeable Black Bear guide and worked extremely hard with the bears, the Rev Buck did see a sow and cub his first nite on stand unfortunately he did not see any bears after that encounter. They will always be welcome in New Brunswick, they even made it to Hawkeyes daughter Amanda's 15th B-day party the nite after Matt got his bear, Matt went to the movies in town with Hawkeyes oldest daughter Tammy and some of her friends.
Tombow made it over to meet the Rev Buck who had got in touch with Tom via Bowsite on tbe internet, we lucked out when meeting strangers, one couldn;t ask for a nicer pair of lads to entertain and hunt with, Tom is without a doubt one of the most knowledgeable people I have met when it comes to wildlife of any kind in New Brunswick and he knows his fishing, an extremely nice gentleman and I am glad that I have been able to meet him after two years of internet tag.
Someday we may get to Arkansas and I know it will be a trip we wouldn;t soon forget either,,thanks again Bill and Matt our lives here in New Brunswick became a little richer meeting you,,
I just love the new paint job, darn I am good,,,teehee.........
