Campground that we had to ourselves

Since we took our week vacation during the peak summer holiday season, we expected to be camping in crowded conditions. It was a gruelling 8 hour drive in scorching heat from Vancouver to Christina Lake and when we arrived at the south end of the lake it was packed. We launched our boat and travelled to the far north end of the lake and found our own secluded campsite.

Christina Lake, BC

Looking south on Christina Lake. After weeks of researching where to take this holiday, we found info on Christina Lake and it sounded great. The lake has a hotspring (geo-thermal activity) somewhere in the middle and it warms the water to a nice, warm 73 degrees. They call it "the warmest tree lined lake in Canada".

Our campsite

Looking at our camp area from the boat. We had a huge beach area to ourselves with a great spot for our tent, shower and even a picnic table. There wasn't another camper for kilometers.

Mandy on the back of the boat.

Mandy in her life jacket on the back of the boat. She was in the water more than she was out of it! She swam from the boat as well as the shore. She really loves it when you throw rocks in from the shore. She rushes in the water so fast that if you are anywhere near, you're going to get wet.

View from our camp

When you take a boat to the top of the lake and camp, this is what you see when you go to bed and wake up. Our tent was 15 feet from the beach and this pic was taken just outside of our tent. All these pictures from Christina Lake were captured from the video that we shot of out trip.

Sandy beach

This is a nice sandy area that we visited regularly. Our camp spot is about a 2 minute boat ride or 15 minute hike from here. Mandy loved digging in the fine Bahama like sand. We had a few visitors on boats in the daytime, but no campers for miles".

Our boat docked on the beach

Camping in remote, secluded areas, you don't always end up with a nice dock to tie the boat up to. We are getting pretty good at beaching though. The good news on this trip was that we were at a lake with fresh water. No need to worry about the tide coming and going and taking the boat with it!

Rainbow.

Out of 7 days, we had rain on two. They were short storms that came and went within hours often leaving behind beautiful scenes like this one. At one point this rainbow seemed to stretch from one end of the lake to the other.

Our beach.

This picture shows the beach area just feet from our campsite. Our beach was sandy with small rocks but very private. The closest boats that we saw on the lake were way down past the narrows.
