Helliwell Bluffs

A Scenic 5 Km trail around the nothern tip of the island is well worth the effort. Aside from the panoramic views of the georgia strait, it was fun to watch the bald eagles soar and glide in the warm winds that blow quite strong. Halliwell Park is a MUST see for the Hornby Island traveller.

Mandy at Tribune Bay, Hornby Island, BC

Mandy cruising the ocean waters at Tribune Bay. This is one of the nicest, cleanest, sandiest beaches we have ever seen. In summer the sun warms the shallow waters and makes it a great spot for swimming.

Mandy at Tribune Bay

Mandy loves the feeling of the cool, smooth beach sand under her paws. This day we went, there was no one else anywhere around so Mandy had the beach to herself to run and play. She loves the water and went for a few dips.

Tribune Bay

Another view of the beautiful Tribune Bay. There is a large campsite and some trails. This is the jewel of Hornby Island and every visitor comes to have a look or a swim. There is a clothing optional beach just around the point.

Tree at Tribune Bay

There seem to be a lot of these old growth trees on Hornby Island. This one is on the trail heading in towards the Tribune Bay beach. The island has been refered to as the Hawaii of Canada for good reason. There are only a few hundred full time residents making it peaceful and relaxing. You can walk down the middle of most streets as there are few cars.
