Circuit ride: out the W&OD, back on C&O. Click here for map. Turn off the trail at South King Street in the middle of Leesburg. King Street takes you past the courthouse and to US 15. It is very safe for bicycles as long as there is a sidewalk alongside it (in town, in other words.) The final four blocks to US 15 are slightly dangerous but there is an asphalt trail for one of those blocks. For the last block of King Street and for the half-mile on US 15, there are wide shoulders, suitable for biking, until you reach (thankfully) the road to the toll ferry. On the C & O your bike will need wide tires.
