I am looking for any information on the BENTONS of Bryan County, particularly Elias E. BENTON who is shown in the 1850 Bryan Co. Census. His wife's name was Leurany and they eventually had four children: Mary, Joseph, David and Etta R. The family moved to Pierce County sometime before 1880. I cannot find any more records of Elias or his daughter Etta R. Leurany is buried in Coffee Co., where her other three children settled. I would like to communicate with anyone who has ANY information on any BENTONS that lived in Bryan, Pierce or Coffee Counties.

I am currently seeking any information in regards to the John Martin family. According to the 1860 census, he was listed as living in Washington county, Georgia. However, only his childred were listed. His wife was not. His son Richard settled and died in Wilkinson county, Georgia. Richard enlisted and served in the 49th Georgia Regiment during the civil war. I specifically need to know the name of John's wife as well as his place of birth and death. According to the Wilkinson county court record of returns dated 1857, there are entries of John and and his family. Any information that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My Great grandfather, Thomas William Powell, joined Company I, 63rd Georgia Infantry Regiment on 23 Dec 1862 in Bartow Co., Ga. According to the family he was born in 1839 in Walker Co., Ga; but a check of the 1840 Census does not show a Powell family with a male under 5 years. After the war he preached at churches in Clinch, Coffee, & Berrien Counties approx. 1868 to 1870. In 1870 he went back to NW Georgia and married Mary A.T. Whitlow, daughter of Miles Whitlow in Walker Co., Ga. He stayed in NW Ga for several years, I presume he was preaching, but have not located any church records for him. He belonged to the Coosa Bapt. Association 1870-1875. He returned to South Ga. in 1874 and preached mostly in Berriean Co. where he died in 1887. Any information on him would be appreciated.
