Our names are Michael & Bev Schellen
(hence the 'Schellendale'),
and we live in a small dairy-farming settlement,
right next to the mighty River Murray,
in South Australia.

This settlement is called
'PONDE'

It is an aboriginal word meaning
'Big Fish' or 'Murray River Cod'.
The Cod is a large fresh-water fish.
'Ponde' features in the ancient
Dreamtime Tales of the Njurrunderi people.

According to the story, their main hero,
Njurunderi,
was chasing this big Murray cod
- 'Ponde' - down the river,
and as theymoved along the big fish
kept twisting and turning,
with his great big tailfins,
to try and avoid capture
from the great Njurrunderi,
and in doing so,
his tail formed all the turns and bends in the river!

Gardens

A lot of it is still in our minds only,
and it means a lot of hard work!
But we both love gardening so much,
and have the same ideas!
And one day we hope to achieve our goal!
