Kartika Plaza Beach Hotel, Bali, Indonesia. |
Arrived from Sanur Thursday, 22nd. December, 1994. How nice to be back in Bali - the calming effect of sun, sand, whispering palms, blue skies, and airconditioning ! And arriving in the tall cool lobby, being met with a refreshing cool drink, pleasant smiles, by graceful people reminds you to relax, unwind - enjoy the climate, the pampering and the surroundings. Lovely gardens - beautiful pool with a swim-up bar, 'Happy hour' and live entertainment. Wonderful meals - looking out across the gardens and pool to the beach. Night markets poolside - special activities and nothing is ever too much trouble. Walks along the beach, watching the surfers and spectacular sunsets. Buying a sarong (who hasn't ?) perhaps having your hair braided, nails done, or even a massage beside the beachfront. Departed for Lombok Tuesday 27th. December. Arrived afternoon Monday September 18th, 1995 - Qantas QF67 from Tullamarine. Returning during school holidays this time we stayed in a bungalow, a truly relaxing experience. Room service for dinner after a long, hard day shopping. Waking up early to the birds, and being able to walk straight to the beach. Retreating to the coolness after a lay by the pool, or sitting out the front in late afternoon reading a book or writing postcards, watching the sunset. The beach volleyball finals were held on the beachfront at Kartika Plaza with men and womens teams from countries including Russia, Sweden, Australia, Brazil, Canada, United States, and Indonesia with umpires from Korea and Japan. All friendly, pleasant staff - genuinely interested in you, and your impressions of their country. Highly recommended. Late departure Sunday September 24, Qantas QF68 direct to Melbourne. How far is it ? - 2740 miles (4409 km) |
