Arrived from Bunratty late Sunday afternoon, 23rd. April '95, when it was misty and overcast. Built in against the old walls, looking across the town, this pleasant stay will long be remembered. Full resort facilities - including an indoor swimming pool. Catering for two, business travellers or a full wedding party. Very pleasant rooms, tasteful decor and comfortable beds. We had a snack in the deserted bar, playing 'musical chairs' between the tables by the windows and the high-back seating in the alcoves. Plenty of stained-glass, polished wood, and wide views out the windows. Later, as Charlene ordered from room service and watched the music awards on the TV - I had dinner in the restaurant, and had the most wonderful meal - steamed vegetables, with fresh salmon in a dill sauce. Perhaps as I've never eaten salmon prepared like this - or maybe as it was an Irish salmon, it has spoilt me as far as salmon is concerned. I asked was the chef married, or interested in moving to Australia ? This caused much laughter, especially when she appeared ! Breakfast was equally appetising - more of those wonderful mushrooms, pleasant surroundings with all the curtains open onto the garden, and friendly smiling staff. Warmly recommended - wish we had stayed longer. Departed early Monday morning, 24th. Apr. Next stop - Letterkenny. |
