Kam Heskin was born on May 8th in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She is the eldest child who grew up, with strict, but very loving parents. She commends her mother for giving her the acting bug that lead her to pursue her dream of acting. The acting bug originally bit in high school, but she remained more focused on another career path. "I originally decided to be a newscaster," she recalls of her earlier aspirations. "By the time I had gotten into college, I had done some theater, but decided I wanted to pursue journalism." Eventually, she decided to follow her dream, and steered herself onto an acting path. Because she "didn't fit into the theater community" of her school, Heskin turned to a television-oriented curriculum. "I really didn't know what else to do, how to go about being an actress," she explains, "or even - because I was so shy - if I had what it took." When Kam Heskin, graduated from college with a double major in political science and broadcast journalism, she had a big decision to make. "I had the choice to be a copywriter for a local television station or move to Chicago and do some modeling and acting. I decided to take a chance and moved to Chicago." It wasn't long before she nabbed her first professional job -- modeling for a Montgomery Ward catalogue. Although she was attracted by the Windy City's theater community, the twenty-something actress decided that there were more acting opportunities in New York. Once living in New York, she signed on with the Willhemenia Modeling Agency, and had billboards throughout New York. After a few months, she landed a brief role in Henry: A Portrait of a Serial Killer 2, as Amy, one of the survivors. Later, a role in a film directed by Face Off director John Woo followed, and soon thereafter, Heskin landed the role of Caitlin on NBC Daytime's now defunct, Sunset Beach. Despite the fact that Sunset Beach was cancelled in December 1999, Kam continued to work. After Sunset Beach, Kam was in production on a new thriller Held For Ranson working alongside actors such as Dennis Hopper and Joan VanArk. More recently, Kam finished filming the comedy for Universal Pictures, Tomcats which was released to theaters nationwide on March 30, 2001.
