Brenda Barrett showed
up on the Port Charles scene in 1992. She turned up unexpectedly on her big sister Julia's doorstep, angry and demanding to know why Julia had frozen her trust fund. Julia told her she knew about Brenda dropping out of her European boarding school and told her "No school, no money." She convinced Brenda to move in with her and to go to Port Charles High for her senior year. When Jagger Cates also enrolled at PC High, Brenda was instantly attracted to him. But Jagger really liked Karen, a straight and pure student, whom Brenda actively disliked. Still, Jagger liked Brenda's style.
In between chasing and longing for Jagger, Brenda was instrumental in the destruction of Ned and Jenny's marriage. When she found, in her sister's room, a tape detailing Jenny's underage affair with a senator, she put it in Ned's car stereo, thinking that she'd be helping Julia land the classy Ned. Needless to say, when Ned found out that Jenny had lied to him about being a virgin and such, he threw her out. When Brenda truimphantly told her sister what she'd done, she expected Julia to thank her. But Julia slapped her and Brenda ran to Jagger for comfort. The two ended up making love in his room at Kelly's.
