Lord Zoisite and Lady Mercury were now at the shore of a lake. No sound interrupted the silence, except their breathing. Enormous plants covered all the beach. The lake was very big, the other side couldn't be seen. "Ok, now that we are more or less safe, use your computer to get us out of here," said Zoisite.

"You are right." She took out a small compact, with a Mercury symbol on its top, an opened it.

"That's a computer?" asked Zoicite.

"Yeah. It's little, but it's more powerful than any other computer in the Moon. Come here, take a look." Zoisite approached Mercury, and looking over her shoulder, they both started searching for a way out. "Wait a minute," said Mercury.

"What's wrong with this?" "What is it Lady Mercury?"

"Here. Everything is wrong. Look...." She made a gesture, and signaled a point in the screen. Zoisite looked at it, and answered: "You are right. The sub-base root of the quadragesimal equation isn't two, it's fourteen. And this is wrong too...." He held out his hand, and it passed over Mercury's shoulder. He shut up, realizing the position they were in.

He was almost holding her, and their hands were touching. He looked at the princess, and saw her blushing furiously. However, she made no move to go away. Mercury felt as his smell started filling her nostrils. It was bewitching. He smelled like a forest, like the wind, like the sea. She felt so safe in his arms. She wanted to be in his arms forever; she knew Ren couldn't hurt her if she was with him. Mercury was surprised of the new attitude she had developed; she was sure that if she was alone, a long time ago she would have surrendered. Zoisite gave her an inner strength that she didn't knew she had. She was warm, safe, content, everything she never had been. Her loneliness was disappearing, she was feeling whole.

Zoisite wasn't in a different mood. Her little body complimented his own excellently. He felt so strange with her, like a kid, like a wild lion, like a poet, like everything at the same time. Her smell was enchanting, like the sea wind. Her pretty blue hair brushing against his face was a feeling he was sure nothing would overcome. The perfect line and curve of her neck was delicious, mixing harmoniously with her uniform. She is more beautiful than heaven itself.

Time stopped for the both of them, until a cold breeze made them shiver. They separated, and stayed silent. Zoisite was the first one to speak, to say: "Lady Mercury. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that, I was just...."

"Shh, it's Ok. Now, what may have happened to my computer?"

"Well, for what you have told me about this place, I think I've got an answer for that question."

"You do?"

"Yes. You know, since we entered this place, I've felt a strange energy surrounding us. Now that your computer has failed too, I'm sure about this."

"What is it?"

"I think we no longer have powers. Nothing magical will work here."

"No powers? Hmm, nice theory. Let's try it." She focused, and stretched out a hand towards the lake. The water boiled for a second, then it stopped, and everything was like before. Mercury was surprised, and through her eyes crossed fear. Zoisite focused too, and a couple of flower petals appeared around him, to vanish into nothingness too.

"Well, it looks like I was right. To think this is the first time I longed to be mistaken."

He sat down on a fallen tree, hopeless. He covered his face with his hands, totally disheartened. "Now we are lost. We are easy prey to Ren."

"I don't think so," said Mercury.

"What do you mean?" asked Zoisite, surprised because of the smile in her face. "Well, if our powers don't work, then Ren's powers won't either."

He stood up, and looked happier. "You are absolutely right. We are even."

"Yes we are. May I ask you a favor, Lord Zoisite?"

"Anything, Lady Mercury."

"Please, since it seems we are going to be together for a long time, just call me Mercury. I never liked all that formality."

"As you wish, Mercury. Just promise me you'll call me Zoisite."

"Ok, Zoisite."

"Now," asked Zoisite, "How are we going to cross this lake?"

"Well, we could swim...." As if a contradiction to her words, a big black shadow passed under the water a few meters away from the shore.

"I don't think swimming would be a good idea. I don't wanna get to know better whatever is down there."

"Well, Mercury, if we are going to do anything, let's do it now. Ren can't be too far away."

"Ok, let's see. There is a lake in here, but do you notice anything strange?"

"Yes, the water is moving. It's moving, and quickly. So, that means…"

"There's a waterfall near here. Maybe we can find a way to go down in it."

"Let's go."
