The inspiration for this piece was a story I read concerning the electrician who's work at an ancient building was interrupted by a ghostly troop of Romans passing waist height across the room. This time I set the scene at a particularly dramatic section of Hadrian's Wall on a dark brooding winters day. This wall was built by the Romans as a defence against the Pictish tribes of Scotland, stretching all the way from the Tyne in the East to the Solway in the West. Commissioned by the Emperor Hadrian in A.D.122 and was completed within ten years. Of course I couldn't help but put the ghost of a Roman legionnaire still patrolling the wall.
