Something Stinks! I think It's
Kale. Bert Knee-Wobbler Bert is a very short gnome, often mistaken for a (gnomish) child, but actually fully grown. Most people only see the top of his full head of hair, and his large nose. The clothing is well made and functional rather than fancy. The only adornment is a winged snake pendant. His face is a triffle scarred from the spots of youth. To those that did not know him, Bert would seem grim and unapproachable, unless he was trying to convert them, but those that know him better may be able to see his jollyness overlayed by a grim purpose. He knows that most people he meets will die when his god returns. He's only ever really happy when in woods, and people who share this view, like rangers, are likely to be his best friends. He prefers not to use violence, mainly because he's not very good at it, but if he comes across an anti-forest creature, it had better watch out! And he won't hold back from helping his friends. His favorite phrase: "HE wouldn't approve of that." Out hunting one day, Bert came across a very old human in the woods. The animals didn't seem frightened of him, so nor was Bert. Bert took him back to the village and cared for him 'til he died. The old man had been a priest of Quetzalcoatl, and had wanted to end his days in a place like that which would come again when his master returned. This priest told Bert much; much (mainly the bits about cities) was painful to Tim's ears, and he soon became convinced that the only hope for the planet was the return of Quetzalcoatl. Once the old man saw this, he began to instruct Bert, not only in the ways of Quetzalcoatl, but also in skills which would help him to survive in the outside world. All too soon (three years) the old man died, and Bert knew it was time to leave the village, and head out into the big nasty world... |
