Description: A life field is a undead-sapping region of positive energy which only effects undead, demons, and
devils. Only the Zedeks of the Dry Isles have knowledge of this power and are able to practice it without permanently
harming themselves while channeling the powerful positive energies involved. Channeling the energy involved in
this science causes physical harm to the Zedek.
Before attempting the life field, the Zedek must first decide how much power she is willing to channel in terms
of hit point loss. If the power works, the Zedek looses the declared hit points. Every undead being within the
life field must make a saving throw vs. death. Those who succeed escape damage. Those who fail lose the same number
of hit points as the Zedek. Evily aligned extra-planer creatures caught within the life field who fail their saving
throw do not suffer damage but instead have a chance of being banished to their plane of origin for a number of
days equal to the hit points of positive energy channeled by the Zedek. For such beings who fail a saving throw,
the chance of being effected is equal to the ratio of the field's damage to the current hit points of the creature.
For example, a 100 hit point demon who has suffered 50 hit points from Crash's Bashings, is standing within the
area of effect when Eden successfully initiates a 40 hit point life field. Said demon/devil fails a saving throw
(magic resistance does not apply) and therefore has an 80% (ie. 40/50ths) chance of being banished to his home
plane for 40 days.
Note: The Zedeks of Old were said to use this power in conjunction with the Magnify (Metapsionic) devotion to great
effect. For example, a 60 hit point Life Field magnified by a factor of 4 would cause 240 points of damage to any
undead who failed their saving throw within a 80 yard redius (almost certainly destroying them), and banish most
any demon/devil who failed a saving throw. Of course, this would require considerable PSPs (260 to be exact) necessitating
the cooperation of several Master Zedeks.
