Combat: Sand Spirits are extremely hard to see in the daytime, 90 percent undetectable in daylight or magically lit conditions. For that reason they come out only when the sun is out, hiding out in their sand caves during the dark periods, unmoving, unbreathing. They give off no heat and so cannot be seemn with infravision either. They may be revealed with a Gem of Seeing, Dust of Appearance or magical spells such as True Seeing.

They attack by smothering their oppoenents with thier bodies. On a successful hit, the victim takes 2-9 points damage each round he is trapped. He may roll an open doors roll to get out of the Sand Spirit's grasp. He may not attack with weapons or spells with a Verbal or somatic components while trpped byt he Spirit.

Habitat/Society: Sand Spirits tend to group together in small packs to feed off live flesh. They dwell in shallow sabd caves during dark hours, awaiting for the daylight and the new hunting day.

Ecology: Sand Spirits are cousins of ghosts, though not wrongfully dead, instead Sand Spirits are cursed to live their days in an undead purgatory. This is a final punsihment of a Lord of Undead.
