Gwenivyr's basic description:

Her hair is but faintly azure, violet, indigo, and emerald; its hue is deeper than wine, brighter than crystal, blacker than a raven's wing and twice as sleek. Light and dark gleam entwined in those impossibly long tresses, iridescent in their shimmer, and beneath arcing brows of equal blackness are eyes like great, still pools of silvered twilight edged in the barest flickering blue. Her lithe body is moon-white and luminous, her steps are quick and light, and her voice is utterly indescribable--a rush of wings, a chorus of harps, a single golden flute--all fail to capture its richness, or its mystery.

Gwenivyr's persona:

Overly grave she may be at times, especially for so merry a people as the Quendi, but her mien is far from dark; rather the intensity of her fea is a guarded thing, subdued, yet no less brilliant. She admits to a certain fascination with mortality and with mortals, and a love of things diverse and strange to her. She delights in words spoken and sung and written, and in all arts of communication, osanwe to tengwestie, and all things between.

Explanation of Gwenivyr's name:

The Sindarin name Gwenivyr is formed from gwen, "maiden", and ivyr, the plural of ivor, "crystal". Altogether, it means "Maiden of Crystals". The Quenya form is Wendimiri. Actually, she was first given the Quenya name, but chose to be known by its Sindarin form because Sindarin was the common language of the Elves, not Quenya.

Gwenivyr's Culture:

Gwenivyr belongs to the Mithlondhrim culture. Mithlond, or the Grey Havens, is on the Gulf of Lhun that leads to the Western Sea, also known as the Great Sea. This puts Mithlond almost at the westernmost border of Middle-Earth. Mithlond is famous for its white swan-ships, and is a very sea-oriented culture, with special respect for Ulmo, Vala of the Sea, and the two Maiar which are his vassals: Ossė and Uinen. Mithlond is the port from which ships set sail to the Undying Lands.

On Elendor, this aspect of Mithlond is not emphasized, because the culture is so small. It is a restricted culture, taking only players who have proved themselves as good RPers. The Mithlondhrim on Elendor do not spend most of their time in Mithlond, but are thought of as the "exceptional" citizens of the seaport-city, wandering Middle-Earth and interacting with its various cultures rather than staying in Mithlond and taking part in the local life.

Mithlond is also known for it's immense and ancient library, which Gwenivyr helped to compile from the lore she had collected in written form or in her own memory.
