I liked this episode. And, like a lot of things, I don't know why. It could be because of the virus. I like viruses. I like 'em and I'm fascinated by them until I get infected with one. Then I get mad. I crawl (I lack energy to walk) upstairs and rip up every page of Richard Preston's THE HOT ZONE. Then I slide Seal style down the stairs and drag myself to the couch, where I loose whatever sanity I have left by being forced to watch annoying people with false smiles who can't act on Gullah Gullah Island on Nickelodeon. I'm telling you, Nickelodeon specifically programs shows to have annoying theme songs that pop into your head and bounce around and mess with your mind at 1:00 in the morning when you're TRYING to get to sleep.
But that's irrelevant. On most days, I do like viruses. And I liked this virus. I liked this episode. I don't know why (whoa...d??vu...). The acting (especially from O'Neill) was REALLY good...and everyone else was good too. The highlight of this episode was, no girls, not seeing Michael Shanks' pants ripped half way up his legs (not that that was half bad...) but was getting to see General Hammond in a straight jacket. I liked that part. I started laughing when I saw it. Personally, I don't think we see enough of characters in straight jackets. Not just on this TV show, but on any TV show. In the media in general, there has been a disappointing lack of straight jackets. I want to know why, that's all. A few more straight jackets, it's all I ask.
Other quick things I liked about the episode:
1. Night vision goggles (Oooh! Everything's green. It's so pretty.... THUMP! Aaaahhh!)
2. The make-up job. Hee hee hee. Everyone looked so funny. Especially Michael Shanks, in that rather unflattering ceiling shot of him infected right near the end.
3. Primitives! Yeah! Australopithecus! It's a big, cool-sounding word. And no one, except for my old science teacher, knows what it means! Use it as a noun, a verb, an adverb, a pronoun, and adjective, and lots, lots more.
4. That scene between Jackson and O'Neill where O'Neill is infected and kicks the crap out of Jackson. My friend Andy likes it 'cause Jackson gets the crap kicked out of him by O'Neill. I just kinda like the acting...
5. There is no 5! Ha ha ha!
The End.
