With the "Cold War" over, and very few actual admitted
threats
to our national security,
the government is taking a different
tack on monitoring both
us and our interplanetary visitors. Its
a 15-year program called
"Mission to Planet Earth",
and involves
a plethora of sensors
designed around very specific parameters.
The first to be launched is called "AM-1"
and is, by far, the largest
and most ambitious of all the scheduled spacecraft.
Is the first in
a series of Earth-monitoring
satellites called AM-1 because of its
close alliteration to
the Hebrew "I AM"-the ancient "name" for
the God of Abraham, Isaac,
and Jacob?
AM-1, to be launched into
polar orbit June 30, has five primary
sensors to provide coverage
of both the land mass and ocean
surface, the extent of
cloud cover, atmospheric composition, and
reflected and emitted radiation.
The remaining "Mission to Planet
Earth" satellites are called EOS.
Some believe this is an
abbreviation of Earth-Orbiting Satellites,
but could the real reason
for the name be that Eos was the Greek
goddess of dawn-and that
their purpose is to monitor the dawning
of a new age or New World
Order?
This mixture of sensors would certainly provide a detailed
overview
of our planet every 24
hours. Perfect both for its stated purpose
and for control and monitoring
of people and their activities.
State governments are now using satellite data to spy
on their
citizens. The Arizona
Water Board used data from one of our
satellites recently, determining
that a farmer in a remote area of
the state was using more than
his allocated share of water. He was
cited, prosecuted, and found guilty
based on these data.
Many cities are currently using satellite
images to monitor
compliance with zoning
regulations. That little room addition
of yours
you snuck in last summer
can't escape the relentless eye of a ne'er
sleeping and tax-hungry Big Brother.
Rest assured that the EOS
sensors are orders of magnitude more
sensitive and flexible
that those currently being used.
