In the cathedral, Father Frank and Josie were having their usual nightly chat, when suddenly Father Angelo burst into the silent auditorium. He thrust a crucifix into her face and began ranting about what an abomination she was, and how Father Frank was consorting with a devil! He continued with his rant, shouting endlessly about how Father Frank was being tempted, that all priests were tempted somehow and that she was sent on behalf of the devil. He pleaded with him to fight the evil & temptation. The more he shouted, the more his words erupted her darker side. She could see he was making Father Frank second guess his feelings, that of which she had worked so hard to bring to the surface...she had worked too hard to give up so easily. Father Angelo shouted, knowing he was unable to choose, but it put more doubt about her in his mind. She felt she would give him the choice later, when she had him alone & to herself to explain the eternal love & companionship they could possibly share. Josie lept to her feet, violently baring her fangs at Father Angelo. In an instant, she grabbed Father Frank, clutching him tightly in her arms...baring her fangs, she quickly sank them into his awaiting nape. Father Angelo screamed as he fumbled for his Holy water. Wailing & shouting Latin at her, he pulled the sleeping Priest to the alter. Realizing the confrontation Angelo posed....she knew she needed a plan in order to save her Priest. She'd be back, she thought. In another instant, Josie lept into the night leaving behind an incoherent Father Frank.
How badly that was botched, she thought. She was angry with herself for letting Angelo succeed in obtaining her Priest. How sloppy she had become, she thought. She was disappointed with herself. She returned to her cliffside home to stratigize. Angelo could rest tonight knowing he saved the Priest for only one more night. Nothing stood in the way of her retreiving her Priest...nothing.
While she was sleeping...she had a vision. A woman, stood crying, she was with child. It did not make sense to her right away. She could sense a sadness from the woman, a heartache. She was separated from her lover and father of her unborn child. Josie had no idea the connection the woman had. But in the same vision she saw her priest! Could this be a message, possibly he had a lover, once upon a time? It made her curious. It was truly vain of her to think there was no other until her. She had taken those thoughts for granted. And now these thoughts frightened her, for it awakened a demon inside, that lay dormant, jealousy.
When she awakened, she wrote her thoughts in her journal for use at a later date. She needed to plan how she was to retrieve her priest. She had only 24 hours after the initial bite to unite with her priest to further his induction to her dark world. Father Angelo posed just a small threat to her intentions. She had battled with him over a priest before, but this time she would undoubtedly win. She was a young vampire when she ran into Angelo before. He knew of her plan to take Father Frank, she knew he recognized her at the church. It wouldn't complicate matters at all. When she was younger, and inexperienced, she felt no responsibilities. She abused her power & carelessly played with the lives of others. But age had taught her to appreciate what she had & not waste it on just anyone. She missed that carefree, irresponsible feeling that youth brought. But she wouldn't trade her experience now for a million dollars. She valued the knowledge she posessed highly. She paced across the floor, still plotting away. Her bond would be strongest with him during the first 24 hours, so she had to act quickly.
By sunset, she began to make calls to find out his schedule. But Angelo had cleared it. She feared Angelo would take him into hiding at first. Instead of panicking, she quickly calmed herself & collected her thoughts. She focused on him, and him only. She could see him, lying in bed, with Father Angelo guarding him at bedside. She clenched her teeth in disgust. She had a plan, if she could call Father Angelo away to something of extreme importance, maybe he would leave another priest to watch over Father Frank. She could will it to happen, no problem. It wasn't hard to make the richest donator in the church, suddenly ill. She rubbed her chin in the most devilish of ways, with an evil grin upon her face. Gently rubbing acrossed her leg, her cat, Wicked, was a sweet distraction.
Just as she had thought, the events began to unfold. The eldest, richest, old lady in town, a matriarch in the church, called for her favorite priest. Father Angelo couldn't deny her. So, he left another priest in charge with careful instructions to watch over Father Frank. But to Josie's delight, he made no mention to why he had to carry out such a task. That was her ace in the hole, she thought. Her sinister plan was falling into place, and the thoughts of holding her priest in her arms brought upon a rush...much like a headrush. She smiled as she thought about him. She couldn't wait to see him, free & experiencing life through different eyes. She saw him happy that way.
Nightfall was approaching & Father Angelo was across town on business. The young priest in charge would be no match for Josie. She took off from her cliffside refuge in pursuit of her posession. Driven by passion alone, and fueled by her instinct & blood, she soared along the darkened treeline virtually unnoticed. Within the blink of an eye she was outside the window of her beloved. She perched just outside on the ledge high above in the church's towers. She could see him as she peered through the beveled glass. She slipped into the hallway just outside his door. She mentally beckoned for the innocent priest who guarded Father Frank. When he opened the door, she jumped him, frightening the hell out of him. He passed out from the excitement. She ran to her priest, clutching him in her arms. She thrust a kiss upon his cool lips. His eyes fluttered opened, then widened upon seeing her. He grasp her back, kissing her ever so passionately. There was no time, she said. She threw open the beveled windows, and the two lept into the night. She held him tightly as they soared along the surf & away from the sanctuary that protected Father Frank. As far as she was concerned, he could lose the Father part now. He was about to fall from grace. Tonight was the night.
She showed him to the door of her cliffside home. He was in awe of its beauty, and the fact that it was virtaully unseen on the hillside. He walked from room to room, looking at everything, the portraits, the sculptures, drinking in the culture & beauty of her domain. He was largely impressed with her taste & intellect. He knew she was wordly & experienced, just by what he seen about her home. It was dark as they walked onto the terrace, gazing at the city below. He looked into her eyes, and began to speak.
"So are you going to tell me what is to become of me?" he said softly.
She leaned into him, reaching for a kiss. His crystal blue eyes, unafraid, locked onto hers, as he softly kissed her back. She raised her hands to his collar, removing it from his neck. She loosened his black shirt, his neck exposed to her. She raised an eyebrow while looking at his sensuous neck. He pulled at her chin, pulling her into another passionate kiss. She took a breath and walked back inside. He followed her, concerned. Josie fixed a glass of wine and leaned against the bar.
"I should tell you a little bit about what's happening to you." she began. "Its quite simple, actually. I can give you the opportunity that no other can give you. I can show you things, not known to any ordinary man. I feel I have saved you from a tragic mistake. You did not belong in that church. You put yourself there as punishment. And I am here to set you free."
He was entranced with her. She could've said anything & he wouldn't have cared. All he could do was look at her, crave her. He wanted to taste her skin, feel her skin, bare against his own. He grabbed her, pulling her close to him. They walked towards her bedroom, kissing playfully along the way. He ran his hands through her hair, smelling her. He never felt so intense before. His body ached for hers. His heart beat loudly in his ears. The next thing he knew, they were in her bed, with mosquito netting, billowing in the breeze around them. He felt he was in heaven. She looked like an angel, her pale skin & luscious red lips.
"Do you want it, Frank?" she softly whispered to him.
"Just tell me you want it & it will be alright."
He felt intoxicated, his head was spinning. He kissed her deeply and whispered back to her.."Yes, I want it."
She pulled him close to her. Gazing into his eyes, she held his face in her tiny hands. She bared her fangs to him, as he flinched in fear. He didn't move, but braced himself for the bite. He knew it was coming after the first one at the church. As she sank into him, she drank gently. His eyes rolled back into his head with borderline pleasure & pain. She pulled back, refreshed & aroused. She looked down at him, smiling, as his blood dribbled from her lips. She pricked her wrist....then gently put it to his mouth. He drank, gently at first. And she kissed his neck while he began his decent. The more he drank, the more his thirst grew. She jerked away, and he fell back, her blood coursing through his veins. His mortal death would soon be upon him. She had to help him understand that. He squirmed in pain, as she spoke of what was happening to him. She told him of the unseen beauty that awaited him in the dark. She spoke of how he would see things much more clearly. She awaited him on the other side, it was just a matter of moments & he would return. And she also said she loved him, while holding his hand until it had turned cold.
When he drew his next breath, it was, as the undead....a vampire. Father Frank was no longer a servant of God, nor a man of the cloth. And just as quickly as she had seduced him with her darkness.......she began to seduce him again. In just a few hours she managed to make him break several of his vows. She delighted herself with these thoughts, for it made her feel full of herself. She enjoyed being selfish & saw nothing wrong with it in the least. His eyes drank in the intensity of his new life. He looked with the bewilderment of an innocent child, gently gazing back for re-assurance of what he sees. She loved watching his innocent curiosity. He ran around the room, ranting he had the vigor of an adolescent, and never had he felt so alive! He swept her up in a passionate, wet kiss, while Wicked watched, perched on the bed.
They had spent the entire night drinking in one another. The sun nearly began to rise. His bloodshot eyes looked tired as he gazed at her once more, before drifting off to sleep. Josie gently crept around, drawing the curtains to create her darkened crypt. As she slid beneath the covers, beside Frank, she whispered softly,
"I only hope you can forgive yourself, or the guilt will overwhelm you, my love."
And she quietly slipped off to sleep as the warm golden rays of the sun crept over the horizon. She stroked his tender face in the faint glow of orange outlining the heavy curtains. She was falling in love with him, but was it merely because she thought he was something she could not have? Or was he really warming her cold dormant heart? Frank missed his last sunrise, but many exciting things lie ahead for him, replacing his missed sunrises.
As they awoke to the soft sound of crickets signaling the dusk had came & went, Frank gazed over to his new companion. He gently kissed her forehead. She smiled lazily up at him. She could see for miles into his deep blue eyes. They showed her promise & hope of things to come she never knew existed. For example, he would show her a way to be tender, & sometime vunerable in his company, and it was okay. She felt on constant guard, so she had her defenses up at all times. Both of them had a lot of work cut out for them if they were to survive together, much less love one another. Josie was set in her ways & Frank had a far way to go before he knew what ways he wanted. Insecure thoughts ran through her mind.
"Stop worrying," he said softly. "I know in my heart, I love you. There isn't anything we cannot overcome."
He had read her thoughts...not completely, but enough to know the general concern on her weary mind. It impressed her nonetheless.
She gave him books to read for the night while she went to scout for prey. She wanted him to learn discreetly until they could move out of town. The books provided him with histories, powers, weaknesses, and the real truth that he needed to know. Little did he know, his sneaky creator was across town fishing about the library pc, looking for the missing ex to her beloved fallen priest. She would let nothing come between her & him now. She had worked entirely too hard to lose him to some past fling. She would seek her out & destroy her...problem solved, she grinned. Deep down she could only hope he could understand that in the world they both are a part of now, there are no rules. She would only be protecting her investment. If he found out & got pissed off, then that could be her defense. Maybe she would have enough time to teach him the code of vampire ethics before he would ever find out.
She found a few names that fit the list she had of possibilities. Scattered acrossed the country they were, and that wasn't making things easier. But she had a strong feeling about the Sara in Florida. Something just told her to go for it. She retired back home, where an anticipated vampire youth, lie waiting for his dark angel. She wanted to instill everything she could within him before they embarked on their Floridian journey. He would have no idea what her motive really was for going there. He was just excited at the thoughts of the beautiful beaches & warm climate. He was overwelmed with joy & brimming with passion, he sank his new fangs deeply into her neck. She smiled with satisfaction at how natural he was at it. It only re-assured her that she had made the right choice......the Fall of Father Frank gave birth to a new Frank. The one she had seem buried deep within his soul, dying to be set free. She felt full of herself, then swatting at Frank, quickly reminded him not to drink it all. He came up for air & grabbed her intensely, drawing her into a very passionate kiss. She could taste the warm blood on his lips & she lit like an inferno. They made love right there. He was reeling her in, she was totally falling for him, at a considerable rate of speed.
They packed quickly, and locked up the cliffside retreat. They left town via the friendly skies, in the mortal way. Before sunrise, they arrived in Daytona. She knew she'd find what she was looking for, she could even smell it. She turned to Frank, smiled, then guided them to the awaiting limo. All the neon lights & available flesh was more than Frank could handle. He was uncontainable in the car. All Josie could do was laugh, he was like a giant kid in a candy store. She cracked open a bottle of her fav red wine & just watched him play.
