Why I Review Books

There are a huge number of books currently out on the market, both fiction and non-fiction. One difficulty I face is that sometimes when I see an interesting book in the market, I am torn between getting it and passing it over because I do not have enough information to decide whether to get it or not. The author, for example, may be unknown to me or the plot of the book on the back cover may not sound appealing (familiar story, right?) despite various adverts or brief reviews on the back page claiming it to be "the best of the genre".

So, in an attempt to help other people avoid this situation, I've decided, whenever possible, to review books that I've read and try to give my opinions on them. Hopefully, they will help you to decide which books to read also.

However, note that these are only my opinions and I do not claim to be a professional reviewer. I do not hold any degrees in literature nor have I ever attended any writing course nor have I written any books. If you want to see professionally reviewed stuff, then I suggest you turn to Locus magazine or other professional magazines that review books in the market.

Instead, I only claim to have read a lot of books and I know what I like. You may find you have similar taste and what I say may help you to decide whether to get a certain book or not. At worse, you'll find yourself totally disagreeing with me, in which case you can go and buy books I hate and forget those I recommend...};-)

So, enjoy the reviews and find out my tastes in fiction and non-fiction.
