But did you know, Vampires have been in every culture and every race? The original vampires back in ancient history were nothing like the fiction characters we have today.
They were ugly, they had long finger nails, and came back from the dead just to cause pain to those the vampire had known before he became "undead."
It has been people like Anne Rice who write books-and change our image of a vampire.
Many people think that "Dracula" by Brahm Stroker is entirely fiction. But it really is based loosely on fact. The character "Dracula" was based on Vlad the Impaler. Vlad was a man-almost a monster himself. He impaled people then dined in front of them, while dipping bread into blood. He was once said to have nailed peoples hats to their heads! Vlad was finally beheaded by his own soldiers by mistake. He was buried under a church altar, so that every time the priest walked by his body, Vlad was once more forgiven for his sins.
Vlad had his precious treasure hidden, and only a few of Vlads knights knew where it was. Years later, the knights dug Vlad up, only to discover animal bones. And Vlads precious treausre-gone. This keeps the "Dracula" story alive.
Many movies have had Vampires in them. The most popular-dracula. Dracula has been done 166 times! That takes work! Also, there is my favorite, Forever Knight, a TV series on a vampire cop that wants to become human. And The Lost Boys- when Jason, his mom, and his brother move to Santa Carla, they are in for some surprises when a vampire "family" and the head vampire try to have them "join" his family. And of course, there is Interview with the Vampire, based on Ann Rice's book, Interview with the Vampire is about an Interview with a Vampire! There are lots of vampire movies, lets put it that way.
1-It was believed that in Greece, if you were a red head, you were a vampire.
2-If you were born with all your hair and teeth, you were believed to be a vampire.
3-If you were buried improperly, or not buried at all, you were also believed to be a vampire.
4-If a cat jumped over you after you died, you were considered a vampire.
